The nature

The place where the story unfolds itself, is important. If you find an interesting location, you give the tale a flavor. Since I live in Norway, a long land with several great landscapes, from mountains and fjords to mountains, skerries and the great sea, it´s easy to let stories play out there. Old norwegian fairy-tales contains a lot of nature spirits. Here is one of them, the "draug", a scary troll that lived in the ocean and dragged people under when they fell out of boats.

The man who drew the troll image, Theodor Kittelsen, was a master in creating trolls and "vetti", and almost all Norwegians thinks of his drawings when they thinks of trolls. The ugly, green one in the boat was drawn by me in a story about Felina. I often goes to the fairy-tale drawings of Kittelsen when I need inspiration.

The last picture is from Hamarøy, an island at the coast far more north than Trondheim, where I live, over the polar circle. There´s where the nights are clear as the days in the summertime. There´s also lots of mosquitos there. And fish! You just have to thow out the bait, and the cods and the macerels are jumping ahead of each other to get it... ;-)
