The Fool of Love- Flipside by Brion Foulke

Flipside is a comic I stumbled upon at the beginning of 2006, when I first landed on the webcomics continent. I have read it ever since, and I like it very much. Despite the description that the main figure, Maytag, is a nymphomaniac jester girl, I´ve always found this comic to be deeply ethical, touching moral issues in an original way.
If I look at the story, seeing it symbolically, Maytag, the jester girl, represents unconditioned love. Sex is a part of it, of course. Now Bernadette, her companion, is different. She has pride, and an honor codex. She could represent conscience. When love and conscience loves each other, something heroic is born...
The art is expressing the storyline and the characters naturally, and the simple, clear lines and black and shaded parts functions very well. I read an interview at Comixtalk with mr. Foulke, where he said that his wish was to be able to draw like the good manga artists does. I must say, for me, he is already there. Flipside surpasses many of the manga tales I´ve read, because it´s story is so original.
